Trigger Point Injections and Me! Part III

Posted Apr 16 2009 12:33am

To My Faithful Readers:

I know it's been a while, but a lot has happened since the last post

No more shots..period. My doctor feels that as long as my hand has plenty of circulation, there is no need to keep giving me shots...
In other words, "If it's not broke, don't fix it"
Not only does my hand have "normal" circulation, it has also increased circulation throughout my entire body! I haven't been this warm and toasty since January 2005 when I was first diagnosed with RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy). I happened to have the cold type of RSD. Everything I touched burned me if it was cold.

Wind, cold water, cold air.....everything. I also could not stand to be touched and that has gone also.

The weirdest things is that since the injection I am no longer bothered by cold things; no more shuddering, shivering.

I rolled the window down in the car when we left the doctors office and let the cool air hit my face..it was wonderful. My doctor and I have been practicing shaking hands and although I don't do it very well yet, it doesn't hurt.

This was an unexpected consequence of the nerve switch being turned on.

Will it last? I think it will judging on my current condition. My hand is beginning to uncurl and I have started using it again just like before.I didn't know people forget how to use them...oh well, I'm a fast learner..

Will I EVER need another one? Not unless I lose circulation in my h
and again.

Dr. Hampar, M.D. said when he did the "peripheral Nerve Block" it is like a wall outlet. You can turn them off and on. The surgery tuned it off and the injection turned it back to the ON position.

With this, I'll close for now.

How would everyone feel about setting up a Q&A session?
Leave me a comment and let me know. If the interest is there, let's do it!

In closing, I would like to thank the Pain Center of Nevada, and especially Dr. Kenneth Hampar, M.D. for the wonderful treatment that I received at the clinic.
