Torn Ligaments in Foot

It's been 7 wks since I fell playing wash and toss, had x-rays done and was told torn ligaments in my foot but would be fine in a few days. Now the foot is still swelling and still hurts up the inside of foot and going across the top by toes. Any suggestions on this being normal? I even went out and bought a pair of sneakers one size to big in order to fit. Lisa
