Things moving well at Montreal vaccination centres
Posted Nov 06 2009 10:02pm
MONTREAL – Lineups began forming early this morning at the 10 newly formed centres where H1N1 vaccinations are being administered in Montreal.
At Cavendish Mall in Cote St. Luc, blocks-long lineups were reported, with Montreal Police and Cote St. Luc public security officials on hand for crowd control.
However, by 11:25 a.m., vaccinations at the mall were half an hour ahead of schedule, with people being called to be vaccinated who were originally skedded for noon.
As a result, there is no lineup anymore at the mall.
Vaccinations started today for family members of children under 6 months; children age 6 months to 5 years; adults with immune deficiencies; women more than 20 weeks pregnant, and pregnant women with chronic illness.
The 10 vaccine centres opened today – using a new coupon-based system – and will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. Another four will open later this week.
Provincial health authorities are to provide an update on the vaccination process this afternoon.
