Since there is no Pertussis vaccine alone, what will happen to me if I take the Dt and the Tdap one year apart?

I have to get a pertusis vaccine or the hospital where I am doing my nursing rotation will not allow me to work. However, I got the Td last year, so I have to wait 5 years between that and the Dtap.  Help!  I can't lose my residency, as I will get kicked out of nursing school. Should I just get the Tdap anyway? What will happen to me?
