Sinai Hospital Race for Our Kids partners with Maryland Senior Olympics

Posted Aug 17 2012 6:00am

Okay I admit it. I have been sleep deprived since the opening of the 2012 Olympiad. I just can’t resist tuning in to the day’s highlights. So when the closing ceremonies are behind us and the flame extinguished, I will miss it. But wait…..there is a way to keep that Olympic spirit alive!

This year the Sinai Hospital 8th Annual Race for Our Kids 10k Race serves as the official 10k running event of the 2012 Maryland Senior Olympics .  The top four male and female finishers in age groups 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-plus qualify for the 2013 National Senior Games in Cleveland . The 2012 Maryland Senior Olympics marks 32 years of playing a major role in helping raise physical fitness awareness for the senior population, aged 50 and above.

On Sunday, September 23, hundreds of people will fill the streets surrounding Sinai Hospital for the running of the Race for Our Kids presented by the Sinai Hospital Auxiliary. Runners and walkers of all ages will take part in either a 10K or 5K race or a 1-Mile Family Walk, with the proceeds benefiting the division of pediatric oncology at The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai .
