Sinai Hospital Named Partner with Baltimore Urban Area Security Initiative

Print this entryOn June 22, 2011 Beth Neilson, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, Sinai Hospital, attended a press conference held by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake regarding the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI). This well attended event included the County Executives from each Region III jurisdiction, as well as administrative leaders from the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management, Maryland Institute of the Emergency Medical Services Systems, Howard County Fire Department and others. UASI is a FEMA non-profit security grant program providing funding support for target hardening activities to non-profit organizations identified to be at high risk for threats, natural disasters and / or acts of terrorism.
Sinai Hospital was named a partner on a $2 million regional UASI grant which allowed the region to purchase an electronic patient tracking system, assets to support alternate care sites and two medical ambulance buses.
