Silent Witness

Posted Dec 02 2008 9:27pm
For the first time ever I actually rang the press office to make a complaint!! Beaker! Complain - I know it's hard to believe!!

I don't know if any of you saw Thursday's episode of Silent Witness but I was appalled about how the LAS was misrepresented. We were actually shown to be out and out racists!! It's such a shame coz it was a crackingly good episode about gangs in the South West but when the Paramedic decided to call the kids "feral" I was livid. As someone who allocates on the SW and my partner runs the FRU desk we were in complete shock. How dare the BBC feel it is appropriate to show us like that.

And so I decided that for once I should actually do something about it other than just getting annoyed on here. I rang the press office and believe me I wasn't the first!! Apparently they had already been contacted by a number of AOM's and DSO's amongst others airing their disgust and a letter was already being prepared to send to the BBC.

How the BBC thought it was ok for anyone to make such a comment is beyond me but to make it the LAS, who spend their whole careers picking up the pieces of the gang violence, is just beyond me. I look forward to hearing the official BBC apology and hope that it hasn't ruined relations between the LAS and the public in those areas for good.
