I fell off a climbing wall in january 2008 landing on my feet and my right foot everted and dorsiflexed causing a mild high ankle sprain. About a month after the injury I had x-rays taken that were negative. Over the past year I haven't been the best at resting it, but it has been slowly getting better. This past month (now a year later) I have been climbing 3-5 days a week, which requires weight bearing with the ankle in a lot of different positions, and my some of my pain has come back and I now have a tender spot on my distal fibula. Should I get my ankle looked at again or just chalk it up to irritating structures that haven't fully healed?
There is the possibility of talar dome cartilage contusion or fracture. If you are having any sort of locking, clicking or persistent pain in your ankle you should see an orthopedic for further examination.
