Severe joint pain since flu vacine

Hi. My husband had a flu vaccine 09-2011. He has since then suffered from severe joint pain starting in the shoulder, moving to knee then eventually moving to all his joints so badly that he can barely walk, dress himself etc. I have been doing lots of research and have not found anything that could cure this. I am interested in knowing if anyone out there has had any help in feeling better. All his blood work is normal.He is taking prednisone but that really is so unhealthy to take for long periods. Does anyone have any idea on  how to fix this or found something to help with the pain? I have contacted a Internal Medicine doctor. Hopefully he can help. Thanks
