School Rallies to Support Fellow Student’s Save-A-Limb Cause

Posted Oct 19 2012 9:51am

Team Alyssa just got 400 more teammates.

Thursday at Victory Villa Elementary School in east Baltimore, more than 400 students marched in unity with their fellow student Alyssa Rhine and in support of tomorrow’s Save-A-Limb Ride, Walk and Festival at Oregon Ridge Park . Literally…

Alyssa is a patient at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics . We’ve shared her story here on the blog .

She and her mom, Colleen, have been huge advocates for the Save-A-Limb Ride, not just participating in the event itself, but also starting Team Alyssa to help raise donations.

On October 18, 2012 at Victory Villa Elementary School in east Baltimore, more than 400 students marched in unity with their fellow student Alyssa Rhine and in support of tomorrow’s Save-A-Limb Ride, Walk and Festival at Oregon Ridge Park.

When Alyssa’s school learned about her cause, the entire student body, teachers and administration rallied behind her. The result was a parade of more than 400 kids and, perhaps more moving, a donation of more than $2200.

WJZ-TV was there to capture the story. You can view it here .

Thanks to everyone at Victory Villa Elementary for supporting Alyssa and the Save-A-Limb Ride. And don’t forget, you too can join us tomorrow starting at 8 a.m. at Oregon Ridge Park!
