That’s the tagline supporting a great organ donor registration effort that is currently taking place on Twitter. Though I’ve been unable to dig up the actual person or organization responsible for pulling this effort together, SavetheWorld.tv is the branded backbone behind the operation.
The idea is a simple one. Over 5.5 million people are currently engaged on Twitter (as is DLI!). Through real-time conversation, Twitter is helping people and causes connect in new ways. The impact can be dramatic (recall this Mom who sought out a living kidney donor for her daughter through the site).
Through the use of the #savetheworld.tv hashtag, Twitter users are spreading the word on this registration effort and encouraging their followers to take lifesaving action through registration. Quick, easy, simple and potentially viral. In other words, brilliant.
One suggestion would be for SavetheWorld.tv to extend this effort by working with Donate Life America, Organ Procurement Organizations and statewide coalitions such as Donate Life Illinois to create a similar effort where we all work together to track measurable registrations that result from the effort. It’s easy to imagine the potential registrations that might result from all of us working together to promote and engage in this type of effort.
So, SavetheWorld.tv, if you’re listening, drop a comment and let’s work together on saving lives!
