Saturated Fat Lowers LDL Cholesterol?

Posted Feb 11 2012 10:54am

I came across this study from last year that looked at how carbohydrate intake modifies the impact of saturated fat on LDL and V-LDL levels.  Here's a couple charts:

SatfatLDL

SatfatVLDL

It shows that regardless of carb intake, more saturated fat lowers both LDL and V-LDL, though only the effect on V-LDL was statistically significant.  It also shows how a moderate carb intake, neither too high nor too low, leads to the lowest LDL and V-LDL levels.
