San Francisco Chiropractor gives 4th of July advice for back pain sufferers

The 4th of July long weekend is a perfect opportunity to give your body a chance to rest and recover from the daily grind. Especially those of you that are currently suffering with acute or chronic back, neck, or wrist pain.
I told my patients (with back or neck pain) at Executive Express Chiropractic at the Embarcadero Center...to just take it easy over the weekend. Maybe some light exercise...like stretching or walking. If your back or neck is sore, you should be icing throughout the day...say every two hours for 15 minutes.
The last thing you want to do if you have acute back, neck, or wrist pain...is to over-do it. This could prolong the problem or make it a lot worse than it is. If you are going to be traveling, I recommend bringing your ice packs, cervical pillow, and a back support if you have low back pain (SURE DOC). The lumbar support is great for long drives or even airplane seats.
Yes...you have to live your life...and many of you will just ignore the back pain and enjoy yourselves...but just remember...there may be a price to pay later.
Be careful not to mix any kind of pain medication with alcohol...this can impair your senses and possibly lead to an unfavorable outcome. The alcohol will numb the pain anyway (JUST KIDDING).
Anyway...have a great holiday...and we will see you next week.
