Running Shoes in High & Low-Arched Feet

Runner The effect of the type of running shoe on high-arched feet compared to low-arched feet was evaluated in a recent study. The researchers set out to determine how the type of shoe affected plantar pressure (pressure on the bottom of the foot) and contact area, during walking. Measurements were taken in 35 high-arched participants and compared to 40 low-arched participants while walking barefoot, in a motion control running shoe and a cushioned running shoe.
