Radiation therapy for breast cancer has become best alternative to other therapies in healing breast cancer. With the help of radiation therapy for breast cancer, early diagnosis and treatment is easy. This treatment cures breast cancer by two ways, either by mastectomy or breast conservation therapy. Mastectomy is the operation in that entire breast is removed.

On the other side, in breast conservation surgery, breast tumor and marginal surrounding of normal tissues is removed. Because of this reason, many women may hesitate to under go the radiation therapy but before approaching, they may go through the reviews. Many studies have shown that radiation shows quite good result in risk degeneration than other treatments.

Besides this, many women treated with radiation therapy for breast cancer shows good cosmetic results. Radiation therapy for breast cancer is best suited in the patients with reoccurrence of breast cancer. Radiation therapy for breast cancer successfully treats the reappearance of the cancer by killing abnormal cells that causes cancer.

After treating with radiation therapy for breast cancer, some women may develop mild tiredness that may increase gradually over the course of therapy. However, after one to two months it decreases eventually. Some times dull aches or sharp shooting pains and skin reaction may occur. To avoid these side effects medicine intake and proper skin care is necessary. Patient need to keep their skin dry, avoid extreme bathing temperature, sun exposure, etc.

Along with it, sometimes patient treated by radiation therapy for breast cancer, may develop slight swelling of breast, breakdown of skin, sever pains in breast during the treatment.

All these side effects can be decrease with treatment follow up. Treatment follow up is important in detection and treating reoccurrence of the cancer in irradiated breast or lymph nodes. All these possibilities can be detected early with routine tests of bone scanning, chest x-rays, blood tests, etc. in some cases follow up plans may include physical exam for every few months in first several years after the treatment. Observing all the pros and corns it is found that radiation therapy for breast cancer has become the good alternative to other treatments.
