problems

I have more questions than opinions today. I know that every combination department has it's problems and there are arguments for and against the cross training of our people. How do you deal with a brand new medic, a preceptee who just doesn't care? In it for the raise and not the medicine. How do you teach someone like this? How do you not throw up your hands in defeat when you know they will be released no matter what you write? More importantly how do you make them understand the need for a strong assessment and that the medicine is actually important? These are grown adults. It's very difficult to instil a work ethic when the have never had one. How do you all deal with these problems? I know they are not just issues I have noticed but they span across the board.
