Probiotics in Newsweek

Posted Sep 14 2008 5:34pm

Newsweek ( via MSNBC.com ) has a short and sweet article about Probiotics called, "Gut Flora? Great!" written by Mary Carmichael. It is good that awareness is increasing about the benefits of these "good bugs."

Lately, docs have been taking an interest in probiotic supplements, which may help control infections. In a recent German study, subjects taking three probiotics found that their colds were shorter and less severe. Probiotics may even help ward off some of the most dangerous germs, like Clostridium difficile, a nasty bug that sometimes infects the colon after hospital patients are given strong antibiotics.

Btw, Jigsaw Health's Essential Blend Probiotics contains species of both Bifido-bacterium longum and Lactobacillus mentioned in this article.

Read several other posted that I've written about probiotics here, here, and here.
