There are plenty of things you can do to prevent injuries from happening when you play sports, dance, or even walk your dog. The trouble is most people don't take the time to follow the rules, leading to countless strains, sprains, and spasms each year.
One way to stay fit and uninjured is to make sure your body is up for what you are intending to inflict upon it! Only playing soccer a weekend or so a month will open you up automatically to mor einjuries than what avid soccer stars experience. Know your limits! It's great to get out there and take one for the team....just make sure the team you are on will be at your level of physical capabilities.
Another tipis to follow the rules. It may sound like a lame P.E. class, but really the rules were designed to keep you safe. If you are the one always causing interference and being called out on fouls, then chances are you may get injured more often.
A third tip is to make sure you are well rested. Just like anything else, when we are tired, our judgment is compromised. Keep yourself safe from injury by being alert and at your best mentally when you jump into that sports arena!
I love all your tips. In addition, sometimes we're just in such a hurry to get to where we're going that we move too sudden a movement or push our bodies just beyond the point of safety. Chances are your body will do what you ask of it if you give it a moment of transition. Start out a bit slow and then before you amp up the energy, take a breath and assess how you feel. It's okay to push your body, just not too hard and fast! Taking that one moment to breathe gives you the chance to make the right choice.
