After writing about mineral baths in the previous post , I wanted to see if it worked in practice. I know that you can order Dea Sea salts and other types of mineral salts, but I didn't want to wait. I dug out my bottle of Concentrace , which I use occassionally to remineralize drinking water:
As a simple experiment, I put a teaspoon in when giving my toddler a bath. The results were dramatic, making the skin and especially the hair much softer. Afterwards, I tried the treatment on myself and found the same thing: softer skin and much softer hair.
So if there are any vain Paleo people out there, I would encourage you to give this a try. I joke that it is a "spa treatment", but it seems to give results on par with that of professional services.
One note: there is probably some type of interaction with minerals and soap. I've read that the combination can irritate skin. Therefore, this type of treatment is probably best done without soap or shampoo.
