PAIN CONTROL

Posted May 08 2009 11:40pm

Instead of popping pills, I clean my home with music playing to distract from pain. This has a double bonus, I am rewarded by having a clean house, and my mind is distracted from the pain. I learned a long time ago that lying in bed does nothing but leave you feeling worse. You end up focusing on the pain, and nothing else. It doesn't matter how bad it gets I will still try to keep busy. It the pain has dragged on for several days and keeps me awake at night I soon hit a brick wall, and I will crash, meaning I will sleep alot through exhaustion, and its also a good way to avoid the pain. I also use wheat bags, and get on my computer and zone out on movies. If I am too bad with it I will even clean the kitchen floor on my hands and knees. This probably makes me annoying when hospitalised as the nurses cant find me as I'm always buggering off the ward with my ipod busily distracting myself. Some may even think 'oh she cant be that bad, shes off again' Its just my way of coping. It has its positves though. D.V.T is avoided, Im not a bell ringer, and I avoid living in a zoned out chemical haze. Distraction is great pain releif. Maybe E.D staff could hand drug seekers a vacum cleaner? :)
