One dead, Two suffer due to short staffing

Posted May 08 2009 11:39pm
This article is a gross misrepresentation of the true figures concerning those effected by short staffing here in New-Zealand.
Not many people bother with Health and Disability nor Accident Compensation Corporation as the waits are needlessly long.
Most of the time the Doctor gets a slap on the wrist, or made to do a course(most people who are ordered to do courses fail).
A.C.C can take years and years to pay poor patients out. I have heard of people waiting up to six years. This does not come from the Doctors pocket but the tax payer.
A nursing member once said to me he/she was shocked. When He/She went from Hospital nursing into another field of practice. They witnessed the horrors of the operations that went wrong.
In the hospital the Doctors always would say "The operation went well". The patient would also be hastily removed back home. Where they were left to cope with the repercussions of failed surgery. Where the then District Nurse had to clean up the mess.
I know I am not alone in this.
