New sections: Aging and Viral hepatitis

Posted Nov 18 2011 12:39pm

We’re pleased to announce two new sections added to existing F1000 Faculties:

In honour of these, here’s a couple of choice picks from these sections:

From the Aging section, a study that provides the first demonstration that epigenetic changes can influence longevity in subsequent generations. As Matt Kaeberlein states in his evaluation,

There is abundant evidence that epigenetic changes can result from environmental factors (e.g. diet, chemical exposure), raising the intriguing possibility that aging might be influenced by the environment experienced by parents and grandparents.

From the ‘Viral hepatitis’ section, Anastasia Renzi and Gianfranco Alpini highlight an “important and innovative” study intriguingly titled “ Border patrol intensifies for hepatitis C virus entry .” They say,

… understanding the mechanism through which the virus infects the cells, as done here, can be a new approach for the prevention of HCV infection.

A warm welcome to our Faculty Members in the ‘Aging’ and ‘Viral hepatitis’ sections!
