Neil M. Meltzer, president and chief operating officer of Sinai Hospital and senior vice president of LifeBridge Health, has joined other notable Marylanders to serve on the President’s Advisory Council of Notre Dame of Maryland University. Many long-time Baltimoreans have known the school as the College of Notre Dame, but in 2010, Notre Dame’s board of trustees announced the name change.
Patricia J. Mitchell, chair of the board of trustees, told the Baltimore Sun that the switch “… will allow us to more clearly articulate the breadth and depth of what we offer.” Notre Dame’s current president, Mary Pat Seurkamp, explained: “We have become an increasingly complex institution and the name should reflect that.”
