Our practice has been going through some changes trying to get our business in a little better order so we can continue to practice in a poor underserved rural area. One of the things that has become apparent is that we need to attract more and more patients with "real" insurance.
This morning I spent a couple of hours surfing trying to think of a few ideas on how to market our practice in this small town. Newspaper ads are fairly traditional and in small towns generally work fairly well. Web based advertising I worry would be lost on many, but the people we are trying to attract are certainly Internet savvy . Other physicians have taken approaches of holding various health fairs and events which certainly will attract local press coverage as well.
My favorite idea so far would be to add our name and logo as a sponsor of the local midget and sprint car races. I'd love to see that on the side of a car or race track. Anyone with any ideas?
