Life Has No Remote

Posted Sep 01 2012 1:09pm
My cousin seems to spend most of her life posting inspirational pictures and sayings on Facebook.   Yesterday, she posted a picture of a sign proclaiming, “Life has no remote.   Get up and change it yourself.”   I instantly fell in love with it.As a doc, no matter how hard I work to help my patients find health and Wellth, nothing is accomplished until my patient decides to get up and change it himself.   Yes, I do not have a working remote control that will instantly change a person’s life.   No matter how many buttons I push, nothing happens until my patient takes their own action.Lately, I have been pleased at the number of my patients who have gotten up and changed their lives.  Diets and other Unnatural Acts” is making a difference.   A few days ago, a 45 year old woman commented on my blog.   She was glad I had decided to kill my “ANTS” and get back to writing positive articles.   She also pointed out that she had lost 21 pounds and was healthier then she had been in a long time.   My book served as her remote, and helped get her moving.   As a writer and her doc, I was proud of her and equally proud of myself.   Stories like hers will help keep me focused on the good things in life.Today, a 70 year old patient of mine thanked me for my book.   He was thrilled that “Diets and Other Unnatural Acts” allowed him to eat what he normally eats while encouraging him to slowly refine his diet, lessen his servings, and increase his activity without it seeming like work.   He, too, decided to get up and do something positive to change himself.Yes, I worry about the future of my profession, but as success stories roll in, I am bolstered by the spirit of my patients and the positive changes I am witnessing.   “Life has no remote.   Get up and change it yourself.”   Health isWellth!   Get up today and everyday and work on getting healthy.   You can do it!  Remember, if you need help getting started or formulating a plan of attack, see your doc (or read my book).   The life you save may be your own!
