Posted Feb 08 2013 10:00am

It is with great sadness that we note the death of Faculty Member Kuan-Teh Jeang , who passed away on the 27th of January.

Dr Jeang was a prominent researcher at the NIH for 27 years, and renowned for his work in retroviruses. He was also Editor-in-Chief of Retrovirology and an editorial board member of numerous journals, including F1000Research. He joined Faculty of 1000 in 2006 as part of the Viral Infections Section. A passionate supporter of open-access publishing, he was awarded BioMed Central’s ‘Editor of the Year’ award in 2010.

An obituary for Dr Jeang by Dr Michael Gottesman of the NIH is available on the Retrovirology blog.

Our sincere condolences to his family and colleagues.
