Here's something I've been wondering about. Over the last few years, there have been short-term studies showing the Paleo diet is effective for weight loss and improving health. In fact, it appears to outperform any comparable diet.
Now, my question is: will this hold up over the long term? For example, even though the Atkins diet provides short-term weight loss, the longer studies (18 months or more) show that it doesn't have much impact. Long-term studies also show that other diets (Zone, Ornish, etc.) aren't really effective in the long run.
So will long-term Paleo wind up with the same result? Part of the reason I ask this is that many people combine Paleo with some type of intermittent fasting. Therefore, it's hard to tell if there will be a rebound effect with a regular non-fasting Paleo diet.

I hope a long-term Paleo study is in the works.
