Is feeling better for a few hours after taking antibiotic, then worse normal?

Posted by JDragun2

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with a prostate infection by the urologist the other day. When I take the Cipro medication I start to feel better within an hour, but after a fw hours I feel worse again [urgency and uncomfortablness comes back] then when I take the second pill [only 2 per day prescription] I feel better again an hour or so later. Is this a normal cycle for antibiotics to be taking? This is only day 3 of taking the antibiotics.

Thanks any who know the answer.

Thank you Dr. Judy. I actually have had less time of uncomfortableness today between doses than yesterday, so the antibiotic must be doing its job. I was worried because I was originally thought to have a UTI and given doxycycline, but it did nothing to help. Since seeing the urologist [she said my prostate was a bit soft, and the exam was more uncomfortable than it should have been] she thought it was a case of acute prostititis. My groin lymphs swelled slightly too. I am feeling better today, but the glands are still slightly swollen, is this normal? I have heard different ideas that lymph nodes should reduce in swelling right away, and that they may stay slightly swollen for a few weeks before returning to normal. I am not too worried about lymphoma or hodgkins, becuse they are not overly swollen [they don't show out of the skin and aren't red] and they are slightly sore to the touch. From what I've heard it is more of a problem if they don't hurt and  it is only 1 lymph node. Thank you for any more imput you might have since I can not contact my doctor until monday.
