Important Nutrients for Children

Question:
Dear Dr. Ben,

I have been looking everywhere for a good sorce of copper nutrient for my 8 year old son.

I need your help! What do you recommend?

Thank you,
Holly

Answer:
Hi Holly,

I would be careful giving Copper alone to a young child - or anyone for that matter.

Copper is typically met in daily requirements via multivitamins or foods.

Typically, giving copper should be balanced by zinc, as they compete. Usually if 1 mg of copper is
given, then 5 mg of zinc are given.

Instead of giving your 8 yr old copper directly, I recommend that you give a multivitamin with minerals.

You may consider PediaNutrients by Pure Encapsulations .  This is available in capsule or powder form.

The capsule form of the PediaNutrients contain 2 mg of copper per serving of 4 capsules . The capsules are small, allowing for easy swallowing.

Our powdered form of the PediaNutrients is available in Strawberry Banana and Cherry Lemonade .

My boys use PediaNutrients capsules. They were not too fond of the PediaNutrients powder. However, I mixed them only in water. If you mix them in juice or applesauce, the PediaNutrients powders would likely be fine.

Should you have further questions, please do let me know.

In health,
Dr Ben
