I was wandering the web trying to find information on Reactive Hypoglycemia when I stumbled upon your post on the Wellsphere site. I have been enduring absolute Hell for the last nine months, four of which were spent bedridden. I have seen ten different doctors, and have paid over four thousand dollars out of my pocket, and have very little to show for it, other than what I’ve figured out on my own. And after months of investigating on the web, I am sure Reactive Hypoglycemia is what I’ve been suffering from. In fact I have had this for years, but the symptoms were just vague enough that I didn’t see a pattern.
I recognized in early July that diet was the key; specifically how it was sugar that would trigger these episodes of profuse sweating, confusion, trembling, anxiety, adrenalin rushes, etc. Despite this information my doctor is still clueless. On a suggestion from my son (who is not a doctor) I went on a super, super low-carb diet and within four days many of my symptoms subsided, some of which have been around for twenty years. While the diet worked, it is clear that I am creating another problem by not taking in enough carbs to function. My doctor knows all of this, and still says, if it’s working continue. I know… time to find a new doctor. ;-) But that’s part of the problem; I can’t seem to find someone who can help. Moreover, I literally can’t function on this super low carb diet, but I can’t seem to find a way of including even some low-carb fruits other than cantaloupe without triggering an episode. Some of you clearly have a bead on how to eat with this ailment and I hope you can help me with some ideas of how to go about this.
Any helpful information would be appreciated, but specifically I need to learn how to be able to eat meals with enough glucose to function without triggering an attack. What can and can’t I eat and how do I do it? Some of you clearly combine foods, but do you also follow low glycemic guidelines, and if so, how low do the foods have to be? Or is there some other way?
And… does anyone have this annoying buzzing in their legs?
Thanks in advance,
Chili
