I'm an adult who had an umbilical hernia repair. no my belly buttons protrudes more then before. why?

I had a tiny umbilical hernia and had it repaired without the mesh 2 weeks ago.  My belly button protrudes more now than it did prior to the surgery. It looks more like I have a swollen belly button ring.  I originally had an "innie" belly button and know it protrudes. Why is it swollen? Will it ever go down?
