It started approximately 36 hours ago whilst sat in the cinema where i couldnt get comfortable in a 3 hour long film for the pain which didnt seem to shift. I went to the toilet twice during the film to see if the pain would ease but i found it painful urinating and the pain still there.it went off after much struggle to get to sleep 6 hours later and returned approximately 15 hours later from that but somewhat on and off rather than constant. standing up or moving tends to bring on the sharp pain before it turns into a dull pain. it is in one place only however when sat in the cinema it was all over my lower abdo region. I have had a period one week ago and have a normal coil fitted and i have had this for almost 2 years now. I still find it painful to urinate but the pain isnt a burning sensation, it is in my abdomen where the main pain is.
It sounds like you might have a urinary tract infection. This is often brought on by over use of soda or caffeine, not enough water intake, and wiping back to front when going to the bathroom. You also have to consider an infection that has migrated up the ureter coming close to the kidney itself (this generally creates pain and fever).
Drink lots of water, cranberry juice or take cranberry tablets. You will likely have to ask your doctor for treatment with an antibiotic over the next 24 hours. Collect a urine sample in a sterile container and label--keep in refrigerator until you can turn it in within 24 hours to your local lab with a lab slip from your doctor's office so they can run a urine and culture test.
If you get worse overnight, go to the ER for treatment.
