Hot Food and Warm Smiles: A Special Thank You to a 50 Year Sinai Employee

June Parran may consider herself “a country girl” at heart, but she’s been a pivotal part of Sinai Hospital for 50 years.
Born to a family of 12 kids in Calvert County, Maryland, she came to Baltimore City in 1959; just three years later, she took a part-time position as a diet aide in the hospital’s Food and Nutrition Department. Thanks to her hard work and compassion for all patients, June soon became a full-time fixture at Sinai – and she’s been serving everyone with a smile ever since.
In a time when “job hopping” has become a verb, June has built a true home at Sinai. She says that embracing change and “going with the flow” is the best way to turn a job into a career. For her, work is about more than a paycheck; it’s a way to stay engaged with her community. She’s invigorated by working with “good people” and caring for patients, and attributes this to her youthful outlook.

June’s love of good food extends beyond her role at Sinai. At home, she enjoys baked chicken and sweet potatoes, greens and potato salads. She stays spry by hitting the bowling alleys and the softball fields, or sometimes just taking a long walk.
Congratulations to June Parran for 50 years of nurturing her neighbors with hot food and warm smiles.
