Not all high heels cause foot pain or contribute to foot problems. In fact, shoes with at least an inch are recommended for individuals with flatfeet, tight calves and arch pain. The inch at the heel helps decrease arch stress and tension on the Achilles tendon. Once the heel height exceeds 1.5 inches, the amount of force transferred to the forefoot starts to increase substantially and the body posture must adapt to the foot position.
