Less sleep boosts heart attack risk in women


Researchers at the University of Warwick Medical School in the U.K have found that poor sleep can increase risk of heart attack in women - but not in men. Women who reported at least eight hours of sleep most weekdays had significantly lower inflammatory markers that increase risk of heart disease, measured by high reactive CRP levels and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the bloodstream. Heartburn drugs may be addictive

Results of a new study show that popular heartburn drugs known as PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) may be addictive. According to the report, published in the journal Gastroenterology, taking acid reducing drugs for just eight weeks can result in dependency. When the drugs are stopped, symptoms of heartburn, reflux (regurgitation), and stomach upset occurred in forty percent of patients with no previous symptoms. Keep reading
