So, what are the conditions of health? Well...lets start with the four essentials of health. A living cell needs food, water, air, and nerve energy in order maintain it's existence. The health and function of the cells will be determined by the quality of these 4 essentials, which make up the cells context.
Our entire body is composed of cells...some 6 thousand billion of them. Cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, organs make up systems, and they are all interconnected and controlled by the nervous system. In fact, the nervous system takes the food we eat and converts it into living, breathing, thinking tissue. And it does this on an ongoing basis. Cells are dying every second. Your muscles are new every 30 days...your organs are new every 60-90 days...every cell in your body is replaced once per year.
Molecule for molecule food is our most dynamic interaction with our environment. Food provides the raw materials that the body will use to make living cells and tissues.
Seventy percent of the body is water...just like 70% of the earth is water. We are actually cells in the body of the earth. When you need more you body lets you know. When the earth needs more...she also lets us know.
The living machinery in your cells requires oxygen from the air. Your blood carries oxygen from the lungs to the cells and carries back the carbon dioxide. Each day your body uses about 600 quarts of oxygen and gives off about 500 quarts of carbon dioxide. About 1/5 of the air around us is oxygen.
Your nervous system consists of your brain, spinal cord, and nerves. The brain generates an electro-chemical energy that is transmitted down the spinal cord and over the nerves to all your cells...controlling their function, and replication.
Healthy Context =When food, water, air, and nerve supply are in a clean, natural state...health appears spontaneously. We can also alter our natural state of health with mental stress and emotional trauma.
When we alter the quality of our context...we interfere with our health potential, which can lead to sickness and disease. If we take medicines to cure our sickness, we often times degrade the quality of our context even more, which can lead to different problems...these we call side-effects.
This Contextual Healing model is hard to study in a laboratory...but is the basis of the Natural Healing Principle...and is also the Foundation of Chiropractic Philosophy.
What's natural is perfect...it cannot be improved upon. Healing can only occur when we remove the interference to natural bodily functions and external stresses, and return the body's context to a more natural state.
Sure...disease can progress to the point where removing stresses and improving context can no longer help...but it should be our goal to never to get to that point.
All these billions spent on pushing prescription drugs and wonder pills should be spent educating the public about the principles of Natural Healing. It should start early in school.
That will never happen because there is too much money at stake. But that doesn't have to stop you from learning how to help protect yourself, your family and your children from sickness and disease.
There is plenty of information out there. People like Dr. John McDougall, MD have spent their whole life fighting this battle. Check him out at www.McDougall.com. You can also read the great book The China Study...the most comprehensive body of work ever written on the relationship between health and nutrition.
Most killer diseases develop slowly (and silently) over your lifetime as an adaptation to an unhealthy context. Is it really worth it? Plus, your quality of life is so much better when you are healthy.
And...it's much easier to stay well...than it is to get well. Don't wait until it's too late.
