Guilty?

Posted Apr 02 2009 11:42am
"Don't you feel guilty charging me $7.42 for the generic Cipro when you know that Walmart charges four bucks?"

Ummmm.........no.

My corporate has a policy on the four dollar generic pricing, actually all pricing. The policy is this... we will match the price of any pharmacy within a ten mile radius (we're in a rural area) after we verify their price. But there is a catch... you have to ask us to match the price.

We're not going to just mark down a price because we know it's cheaper somewhere else. Because we're a small chain and we don't get the volume discounts that the big boys get. We really do need to charge a little bit more in order to make a meager profit.

Plus, I have a mortgage to pay, kids to feed and clothe. You know, all the expenses that you are bitching to me about... I have them too. And here's what's even better about it. The "retirement" plan that is supporting your life-style... I'm the one paying for it. And I won't be able to see any return on the money that is being withheld from my paychecks.

It's gone.

Bye bye Benjamins.

So no, I have no guilt making a little bit of profit on the prescription. In fact, I don't think that I'm being reimbursed enough for my time to fill your prescription. I'm the one who saw that the quinapril that your cardiologist ordered and this ciprofloxacin from your urologist would interact and keep the ciprofloxacin from getting into your system. That's why I counseled you stagger the doses of those two prescriptions. Right before you said "whatever" and started on your bitching about the price. Being the nice guy that I am, I changed the price to match Walmart's.

For my dispensing services, professional counseling, and speedy service you are wanting me to make a staggering profit of $2.47.

Next time lady, maybe I won't warn you about the interaction. Then when your UTI isn't responding after four days of therapy and it burns like hell when you pee, I'll laugh my butt off when you return to have that Levaquin 750 script filled.

Bitch about the price then, bitch.
