For me, one enigma in the medical school clerkship experience are the "opportunity hungry" learners. In this rotation, there is a particular higher-up individual who is interested in muscling med students out of pretty much any hands-on experience. She is getting a reputation for it. This doesn't jive with any aspect of my personality or behaviour! I'm a strong-willed person, but my tendency, out of exasperation and some level of apathy, is just to let her muscle me out if this is so important and critical to her life. I understand I'm on a lower rung of the hierarchy. But how hard am I supposed to fight for my hands-on learning opportunities?
