So the week went on by and last night was my first night back. What an odd night of randomness. Of course a warm payday friday and the drunken shenanigans began early. I had the " I can't believe I fell down the stairs." drunk guy. The "I have been abducted" crackhead guy. The " I just don't feel good and haven't for 3 weeks" homeless lady (who had been to the ED everyday for the last week.) A coat hanger through the lip. (Still haven't quite figured that one out) and a the sweetest little old lady with bradycardia. My only true patient of the night. She went from unresponsive at the dinner table to alert in her normal mental status enroute to the ED. With consciousness her HR improved with out me having to give her the zap or the drugs. Transient bradycardia leading to syncope? She was gone upstairs and so was the doc the next time I went in so I never got to hear what they found. Sadly after midnight people decided to behave themselves and I got to sleep. (oh darn) The only other interesting thing that happened to me was I walked into the ED and saw a pair of narc seekers that I had not seen in 3 years. They live far from this ED. I guess the other hospitals know them so well that they had to find new hunting ground. They were are pleasant as I remember them. Good times.
