End of Year Thoughts

Posted Oct 23 2008 1:20pm
  • I have felt much better at work over the past month. Why? I've switched my drinking routine when I open the pharmacy. I used to buy a Coca-Cola and a Milky Way before opening the pharmacy and have them gone by 8:30. Now I start the day with a bottle or two of water. No soda until at least 11:00 AM and no candy bars at all. Wow, what a difference.
  • People are stupid. When you pick up prescriptions, you sign an electronic signature pad. When you are done, there are two buttons: OK and Clear. Freakin' hit OK. It's not rocket science.
  • Speaking of rocket science. Mr PhD Rocket Scientist, your 93 year-old ex-nurse mother is not going to be up-to-date on current medications. You should trust me when it comes to your medication therapy. Running home to ask Mother before filling your prescriptions may not be the wisest thing to do. Her information base might be a little dated.
  • The glitch in our pharmacy system that requires us to place a DAW of 5 in the DAW field to get certain generics to go thru is a pain in the ass. Get it fixed already.
  • It is so convenient when a nurse leaves stat messages on the answering machine. Like what happened on Friday. It was an order for a dental pre-med. Message was left at 11:15. Directions to be taken one hour before appointment. At the end of the message " Oh, and his appointment is at noon".
