Does an ulcer need medical attention or will it go away by itself?

Posted by bjgsix

I had severe heart burn for weeks that was not brought on by food as it came random times even at night, now for the past week i have had severe pain in my upper stomach and the constant feeling of food stuck on the way down, is this just a ulcer or something to worry about?

Heartburn over an extended period of time can cause damage both in the stomach and in the esophagus and small intestine.  You may be developing an ulcer along with esophageal stricture both of which need urgent attention.  Get medical attention quickly.  Bleeding and an inability to swallow properly are signs of advanced and potentially life threatening disease.
