After a trip to Santo Domingo, I developed crater like sores - about 10 of them on my arms and legs. They healed after several months. They looked exactly like leishmaniasis (cutaneous) and have left scars. My concern is that I may eventually get visceral leishmaniasis . The dr. I originally saw did not know what I had, and simply gave me an antibiotic cream and told me to wait and see if they healed - he never took a smear or blood test. Is there anything I should do at this point? I have always had a problem with my sinuses. How would I know if this problem becomes visceral leishmaniasis? Thank You,
