Well, it's true. I've been a little hat crazy lately. And these hats, these super-fun to knit ones, aren't going to give us what we need in the coming months. It's been in the 20s and low 30s every day, and I like warm wool over my ears. These are nice for autumnal weather and for most of California winter, so I'm shipping them out west. That's right, some 40-this-year circle sisters have been in my thoughts lately, and a just-turned-4 best buddy gets these stripes from the rest of the yarn.
After years of knitting, it's nice to finally be able to knit things that people might actually want. I'm what you'd call a "rustic" knitter, kind of like my being a "casual" housekeeper. I'm full of fun and food and hugs and too many idea that I want to execute at one time, but I'm not such a precise person. So I've had to find yarns and styles and patterns that work with my style. It's coming along.
And I've got to tell you--since I'm sure it looks like I have all the time in the world--I never just sit on the couch and knit. Well, almost never, unless I'm at the very end of a project and need to focus and finish. I carry my little projects with me everywhere and knit a row or two at the playground, in the car (when I'm the passenger), even at storytime at the library, often with a little one in my lap. Of course, that may change if we get NetFlix and a TV to while away the winter months, but just think how good it'll be for the knitting.
