Courtland Cares Team Takes Part in Race for Our Kids

Posted Oct 19 2012 6:00am

The Courtland Cares team had a strong presence at the recent Race for Our Kids event, sponsored by the Sinai Hospital Auxiliary. Fourteen people laced up their sneakers to take part in the race and to represent Courtland Gardens, and together they collected more than $200.

Courtland Gardens and Levindale employees, their family members and volunteers made up the team. Four members ran in the 10K and the ten others took part in the 5K.

As each Courtland Cares participant crossed the finish line, captain Jamilah Bashir handed him or her a ribbon. Then members gathered under a shade tree to enjoy the delicious food provided.

This was the eighth annual Race for Our Kids event. More than 1,300 people took part, raising an amazing $110,000 to benefit the Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai .

Thanks to everyone who make the morning such a success. Very special mentions go to WMAR TV’s Jamie Costello,  who not only served as the emcee on the day of the race, but who also shared the stories of many of the kids who have been helped at the Samuelson Children’s Hospital. And a big thank you to our generous sponsors, volunteers, medical professionals and the families of our kids.
