Could My Sarcoid Diagnosis Have Been A Vascular Precursor?

Posted Mar 25 2010 12:00am

I came across this post in a google alert this evening and I had to go take a look at the post from the website Inspire

I was diagnosed last February when I was admitted to the hospital with very severe symptoms which had the doctors stumped: inflamation so severe I could barely move, discoloration over my entire body, severe widespread pain, fever, lethargy. Multiple tests were run, inconclusive until ACE levels and performance of mediasteinoscopy clealy gave a diagnosis of sarcoidosis. Since then, have had sarcoid develop in other tissues as well. Not having tremendous success with treatment. Wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with sarcoid vasculitis. I know it’s quite rare, but I’m hoping there is someone!

There were three replies to the question including mine.

But it brought to light for me a question of my own.

I was diagnosed many years ago ( approximately 20 years ago I would venture to guess ) with Sarcoidosis, after having some very bad issues with my breathing, which would cause me to contract pneumonia, which would lead to an emergency hospital visit, and X-Rays, and a lung biopsy, which led to the sarcoidosis diagnosis.

But I have to wonder if this sarcoid was a pre-cursor to my eventual onset of Churg Strauss Syndrome.

I will at some point in time, do some further investigation, but if anyone in my readership has some pertinent information about this, you can of course leave a comment here on this post or you can send me an email at snewmark@hvc.rr.com

Thanks

Lew
