Combination Therapy Increases Work Productivity in RA

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic disease which causes joint inflammation and joint damage. This results in joint pain and stiffness in many body joints, but particularly in the joints of the hands and feet. There is no cure for RA, but many new treatments have emerged to manage the disease more effectively. A recent study published in the October issue of Rheumatology reports on the one year results from the COMET study. The COMET (COmbination of Methotrexate and ETanercept in early RA) study was designed to evaluated combination therapy of methotrexate and etanercept (Enbrel) and compared it to Methotrexate therapy alone.
