I read through a news article the other week talking about troubled childhoods.  The article said that 60% of adults claimed to have difficult childhoods related to abusive or absent parents.  This number seems a little high to me, but regardless, it should be viewed as a warning sign.

I have no idea what's at the root of this issue, as it is not my field.  It just bothers me that so many children are having their childhood interrupted by these events. 

The goal should be for every child to have a happy, healthy childhood.  I hope that more awareness is brought to this issue.
