Although most MRSA infections are relatively minor and can be treated, some serious MRSA infections can be fatal. However, most of those who die with an MRSA infection are already seriously ill with another medical condition.
Providing hospital staff work to prevent the spread of MRSA (by maintaining high standards of hygiene and using the appropriate antiseptic solutions), the risk of developing an MRSA infection in hospital is low. It's also important to remember that in the majority of cases, MRSA infections can be treated quickly and shouldn't cause any complications.
