Brian Westbrook’s Ankle Surgery is a Success

Brian Westbrook of the Philadelphia Eagles is recovering from an ankle debridement surgery they are calling a success. Dr. Mark Myerson, a well known orthopedic surgeon, performed the surgery this morning in Baltimore. Westbrook did not have an ankle scope (arthroscopic surgery) as was previously reported, nor did he have bone spurs removed. Dr. Myerson cleaned out scar tissue within the ankle and removed two bone fragments at the back and inside area of his ankle. Westbrook will remain non-weight bearing for 2 weeks and will then return for a follow-up visit with his surgeon. Rick Burkholder, the Eagles Head Athletic Trainer, said they won’t be putting a time frame on his recovery, but feel confident he’ll be back by the beginning of the season. Continue Reading »
