A champion bodybuilder has spoken to a national newspaper about his experience of male incontinence following surgery to treat prostate cancer, and about the control he has gained thanks to Tena pads .
Denton Wilson, 55, visited his GP after his father died from prostate cancer, and asked to be given the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, which measures levels of a protein that is sometimes raised in men with the disease.
He was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent successful surgery, but the treatment left him with side-effects, including decreased bladder control.
He told the Daily Telegraph: “I tended to isolate myself and would not go out socially as I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get to a toilet in time. “I was introduced to Tena Men pads and started using them to help me manage the condition.
“Once I started doing pelvic floor muscle strengthening exercises, in conjunction with using the pads, things got a lot better for me.”
There are various male incontinence products on the market, including several absorbency levels of Tena Men incontinence pads, Lil for Men pads, and specially designed pouch pants.
